six months have passed since that morning in the hospital. six months since our sweet baby boy was born. and, six whole months since john became a dad, and i became a mother.
and with that, we were completely clueless.
clueless about being parents, about just how exhausted we would be over the coming months, and about how fast a little baby can grow. it's mind-boggling to think of how far we've come since then, and how quickly liam has grown!
from this little guy (excuse the cheesy, mommy voice):
to our little chunker:
looking back on these past six months, i am in complete awe. how the heck did we get here? when did our squeaky little newborn go and become our sweet, chunky six month old munchkin? it has been a whirlwind of taking each day at a time, and doing everything you can to make each day the best that you can. each day brings new blessings, and new challenges. whether it be the blessing of liam cuddling for a heavenly two-hour nap with me in bed, or the challenge of keeping a tidy house, an exercise schedule and cooking somewhat nutritious meals. but i've learned that the days where i don't focus on the pile of dishes, or the mountain of laundry that never ends, i'm the happiest. the moments of reading him stories, taking him on walks around the lake, watching him play, learn and grow are the moments that i treasure daily, and are the moments that truly matter.
over this past month of liam's life, we've made a lot of fun memories! it's started to warm up, and we are loving being out and about exploring this awesome state that we live in.
during the first week in may, we went to our first ever chicago cubs game at wrigley field! john's parents, john's sister julie and her good friend tiffany came to chicago, and we all met up at the game. sadly, the cubs beat the cardinals...but it was still a blast! happy 100th anniversary to wrigley field!
we enrolled him in a KinderMusik class at the local park district, and it is SO MUCH FUN. the teacher is fabulous, and liam loves going and socializing with other babies.
look at that focused attention, what a stud muffin.
we also were able to go to the beautiful chicago botanical gardens, and it was incredible. my in-laws are avid gardeners, and my father-in-law is a grounds keeper at the St. Louis LDS Temple. it was definitely a treat on such a gorgeous day.
liam loved every second. love my little explorer.
john and i celebrated our two year wedding anniversary by going to see the lincolnshire marriott theatre's production of "Cats", and it was FABULOUS. it was so much fun just spending time as the two of us. love that husband of mine.
i had a photobooth session with my munchkin (belly laughs were definitely involved in the making of these photos).
gets me every time.
and lastly, here are some other random snapshots of little moments in liam's sixth month of life:
liam loves his new toy.
his smile looking up at me? excuse me, while i go melt into a puddle of goo.
love those crossed feet.
passed out on our walk.
hanging out on a blanket in the grass by the lake in a bro tank onesie.
with every challenge being a parent brings, we count our blessings and express our gratitude everyday for this little spirit that brings us so much joy. his smiles, laughs and accomplishments give us a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, we are doing something right.
happy six months, liam eugene!
oh yeah, and that new addition i mentioned?
everyone, meet our brand new 2014 nissan rogue select!
isn't she a beaut? we are in love.
although having one car is a blessing in itself, it was becoming extremely difficult with john's crazy hotel schedule to accomplish and accommodate to all of our needs. picture this- putting liam down for bed at 7:00 pm, then at 10:45 pm having to pick him up out of bed, put him in his car seat, pick up john from work, and then try and successfully place liam back in his bed without waking him. complete joke, right? it was becoming extremely cumbersome, and therefore, we began car shopping!
long story short, john saw an amazing internet listing at the local nissan dealership. we went to test drive this car, and we fell in love. we test drove a honda cr-v, and a mazda 3 hatchback, but we knew that we couldn't beat the great deal we were getting with nissan. so we went back, and after a long and grueling process of back and forth negotiating (six hours to be exact), she became ours!
at least we had some adorable entertainment while we waited.
