about us.

hi there! allow me to introduce myself.

my name is Cassie, it's so nice to meet you!

here is a little bit about me:
  • i was born & raised in the beautiful state of washington.
  • i am the second oldest of six children, four girls & two boys.
  • i am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and i am so thankful for the Gospel in my life every single day.
  • i attended Brigham Young University-Hawaii, and graduated with my bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis in vocal performance.
  • i love to sing, dance, and perform on stage. musicals are my favorite!
  • i married my eternal sweetheart in the Nauvoo Illinois LDS Temple on May 4th, 2012. you'll hear all about that in a second.
  • i love pretzel m&ms, popcorn, kiwis, and i enjoy cooking, baking, and reading a good book.
  • where do i see myself in five years? raising children while attending school for my master's degree in music education. i want to be a choir teacher more then anything in the world.
  • right now, we are living in st. louis, missouri, and loving life together.
now enough about me...on to my better half!

this is my amazing husband, john.
i mean, seriously? check out those pearly whites and baby blues! what a hunk.
  • born & raised in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri.
  • he is the youngest of five children, two boys & three girls.
  • he served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from May 2008-May 2010 in the Arizona Tucson Spanish Speaking mission. one of the best decisions of his life (besides eternal marriage to me, of course!).
  • after his mission, he attended Brigham Young University-Hawaii and graduated with a bachelor's degree in hospitality and tourism management with an emphasis in human resources.
  • he L-O-V-E-S desserts. i've never met a human being with a bigger sweet tooth than john.
  • he is a rooms operation manager at the marriott st. louis grand hotel, he loves what he does, and is good at it.
that's a little bit about the two of us as individuals, now onto the fun stuff.

how did we meet?

while we were attending BYU-Hawaii, we both auditioned for the BYU-Hawaii Concert Choir, and both made it in! you know those pieces of paper listing all of the choir member's information including phone number, birthday, yadda yadda? well, me being the weirdo i was, i was curious to see if anyone had my same birthday (don't ask me why!). as i scanned the list, i noticed one name with my same birthday. "John Fryhoff." because i was a new member of the choir and a brand new freshman, i had no idea who he was.

while we were preparing for the upcoming Christmas concert that year, the director of the choir was looking for a soloist for a song called "Betelehemu", an african christmas song. a very handsome tenor in the back row raised his hand to audition. as he opened his mouth to sing, my jaw dropped. his voice was one of the most beautiful voices i'd ever heard in my life. instantly, i wanted to know who he was. as it turns out, a girl in my choir section grew up with him in st. louis and introduced us. and the rest is history.

there is nothing in the world like dating in Hawaii. Hawaii is where i fell truly, madly, deeply in love with my best friend.

we dated for nine months, and then came the night of December 9th, 2011.
