nine months.

well, colby's officially been out of my belly the same time it took for me to grow him inside. SO INSANE. when i was pregnant with him, my pregnancy flew by and that's exactly how these last nine months have been. they have flown! and he's almost a year old? whaaat?!

at a whopping 17 pounds and 28.5 inches long, colby is a bundle of pure joy. his laugh is infectious, his smile is contagious, and those big blue eyes melt me every time i look at them. this is by far my favorite age. he loves to pull himself up, to cover himself in food, to play in water, and to be as close to his big brother as possible. he crawls everywhere, babbles, has perfected his fake laugh, loves to take books off of the bookshelf, and did i mention that he loves to play in water? whether it be a splash park, a pool or the bathtub, this kid loves to be in the water! i have a feeling he is going to be a fish just like his dad. and my favorite thing that colby does now is give me slobbery kisses. i'll turn to him and say "kisses?", and he'll open his mouth as wide as he can, and kiss me square on the mouth. ugh, i love that kid. he is incredible.

i think back to the morning i was induced with colby, and how scared i was to have a second baby. would i love him just as much as i loved liam? how would liam react? the change was so scary to me. but looking back on that time and looking at where we are now, i cannot imagine our lives without colby. he balances us all out. he brings the best out in all of us. when you smile, you can't help but smile and laugh. one of my favorite times of the day is when i sing a lullaby to him before laying him down for bed. he nuzzles into my shoulder, and all of the hard times of the day just wash away. i feel so blessed to be his mother.
