we have a one month old, folks.

you guys, colby is ONE MONTH OLD!

i cannot even believe our sweet baby colby has already graced the earth with his presence for an entire month. where did my little newborn baby go?

i'll just get right to the chase- colby is a dream.

he eats, sleeps, poops, and only fusses when he is hungry. he will wake up usually between two to three times a night, nurse, and go right back to sleep. we are extremely spoiled to say the least. he loves to be held, and snuggling is his middle name. when liam goes down for a nap, that calls for a mama/colby snuggle nap and it is heavenly bliss. colby is our little baby velociraptor that makes the most adorable squeaks and squeals constantly, which makes his older brother laugh hysterically. {cue me melting into a puddle of mom goo}. he loves to take a bath, and we think he has blue eyes. oh, and did i mention that colby has HAIR?! liam was bald for the first few months of his life, and colby has had a head of hair since birth! colby also has an adorable birth mark on his right hand. it's amazing to me how each child can truly be different and unique in their own way.

the only thing that makes colby really upset is being in his car seat. after being fed, burped and had his diaper changed, being in his car seat is prison for him, and it makes him go into major distress. it breaks his mama's heart! does anyone have any advice with this on how to make him more comfortable? he won't take a pacifier, so it's pretty gut wrenching hearing his little cries anytime we go anywhere. i didn't experience this with liam, so this is very new to me. any help would be greatly appreciated!

so, the question is...how has liam been adjusting to having a little brother around?

well, it's been quite the process adjusting to having two children. learning about a whole new child and what makes him tick, while trying to make sure my tornado two year old doesn't destroy the house is quite the challenge. overall, liam has been doing awesome. he loves "tolby" and always wants to know where he is and wants to be around him. he loves to "help" change colby's diaper, laughs when colby toots or poops, and gives him kisses. there have been a few times where he's intentionally bonked him in the head, bounced him up and down in his bouncer violently, and tried to step on him...but so far colby has made it out alive. we are making the transition as smooth and as best as we can for all of us, and so far it's been pretty smooth {knock on wood!}.

this past weekend, we had the opportunity to attend the funeral of my incredible maternal grandmother, helen ash hales. to go to the funeral, we needed to fly to salt lake city and then drive three hours to blackfoot, idaho. so, colby wasn't even a month old before he went on his first flight, and he did great! he slept, nursed, pooped and peed all over mommy, so i'd say it was a success. while at the funeral, everyone was snuggling him and passing him around. whenever i'd look to see where he was, he was in the arms of one of my aunts or siblings or cousins. it was a wonderful experience to be able to see so many extended family, even for just a brief moment in time to celebrate my grandmother's life.

now, feast your eyes on our sweet colby's first month of life in pictures.

colby was officially initiated into liam's life by being covered with his prized daniel tiger's neighborhood figurines.

on our way home, we stopped in brigham city to see john's grandmother and aunt.

ugh, i could eat him.

and here he is, all growed up to one month.

this past month has been a whirlwind, but a wonderful one. colby george is an incredible, sweet spirit, and i'm so thankful that he was sent to our family. he is so incredibly loved.
