sorry i missed the past two weeks of friday night thoughts, folks. it's been a crazy couple of weeks, and john and i have been spending every moment we can together. don't worry, i'll make it up to ya'll this week!
it's a triple whammy for you! first, my makeup for friday night thoughts. second, our trip to florida last month, and lastly, a quick update on our growing little rascal!
friday night thoughts, here we go.
first of all, i want to publicly thank all of you for your prayers, messages and well wishes for the last few weeks of sickness in our house. i've never experienced a day where i felt like i couldn't get through it on my own, and i had multiple of those the last few weeks. thank you to my friend clarissa for taking me to the doctor, and my friend natasha for bringing me oxi-clean and pedialyte for my puking, pooping, sick baby. those acts of kindness meant so much to me. thank you thank you thank you! and again, for all of you near and far who were praying for us and sending your love, i can't tell you how much i appreciated that. you people sure know how to make a girl feel loved!
holy cow, it's already march? with all of the snow on the ground and freezing rain creating sidewalks of ice, you couldn't really tell. but today is definitely march 1st. i'm so excited and so beyond ready for cherry blossoms, sunshine, park days and picnics. this winter has been going on forever, and i cannot wait for it to be over. liam has been dying to get outside and play, and i cannot wait to be able to spend time with him outside exploring instead of being cooped up inside looking out the window. washington d.c. has so much to offer, and i'm excited to continue to explore and adventure in this beautiful and historical part of the country.
we got a brand new clock in our living room, and i am obsessed with it. whenever i'm sitting at home reading or playing, hearing it tick tock tick makes our apartment feel more homey to me. i've struggled with feeling like this apartment is our home, and for some reason, that clock makes it a little better for me. it's the little things in life, or i'm just a little cray-cray. either way, i love it!
recently, i made a delicious meal of skinny mini caprese pizzas. in the recipe, it called for fresh basil. as we looked at the grocery store for fresh basil, we realized that for the price of one small container of a few fresh leaves, we could get an entire basil plant. so, what did we do? we opted to get the basil plant, and it's been awesome! it smells so good in our kitchen, and having constant fresh basil to use is so great. if anyone has any recipes that use basil in them, send them my way!
if i could eat one meal for the rest of my entire life, i would eat breakfast food. hands down! french toast, scrambled eggs with ketchup, turkey bacon, cinnamon rolls, orange juice, strawberries, chocolate chip pancakes, homemade syrup...get in my belly. if you had to choose, what would you eat for the rest of your life?
i love my life and all of its randomness, and i'm grateful for these two in my life for keeping it that way.
hey you guys, WE WENT TO FLORIDA.
the beautiful sunny state of florida. gosh, i love it there. we went there in support of the incredible Tumwater High School dance team while they competed at the UDA National Championship in Orlando at Disney World. as a former member of the team, i was feeling extremely nostalgic while watching these amazing teams compete and perform. i have three sisters, and all four of us have been a member of this dance team. in a way, this was a final goodbye for us all. i would've done anything to jump into the routine and competed on that glorious stage, but watching my beautiful sister sharlee compete and perform was so special for me. i'm so proud of her and the THS dance team who placed 8TH in the nation in Large Varsity Hip Hop. i was a member of the team who placed 9TH in this category back in 2009, so this year's team is a history making team! so happy for them and all of their accomplishments.
in addition to watching all of the incredible teams perform, we got to play at Disney World! we went from sun-up to sun-down every day visiting all of the parks and riding as many rides as we could. it was magical! it was my fourth time coming to orlando, and it was so special to be able to share it with john and liam. it was both john and liam's first time going to orlando, and they absolutely loved it. liam went on a lot of rides and was in awe the entire time. but this little guy's favorite part was being surrounded by family and constantly being played with. this little boy is so, so loved.
and seriously you guys, what could be cuter than a little boy running around with a bumblebee backpack? i can tell you that there is nothing cuter than that.
enjoy our wonderful trip in pictures. {picture credit to none other than Hannah Fine Photography with a few random iphone pictures taken by yours truly.}
we had the most incredible time, and many tears were shed as we said good-bye at the airport.
after this amazing trip, we sadly had a horrible sickness streak sweep through our household. flu/fever/cold/cough/chills/weird rashes, etc. we were down and out for two long weeks, and it was definitely one of the worst experiences of my life.
luckily, we all made it out alive, and have been healthy ever since.
can you believe that our little guy is fifteen months old, almost halfway to two years old?! i live with and take care of him every day and i still don't believe that this has happened. he's grown into a little man, and each day he makes us laugh and smile with his new tricks and things he's learned. he makes me so happy to be his mommy every single day.
so what's new with liam?
he's learned a few simple signs in sign language like "food", "please", "more", and "banana". his favorite things to do are play with magnets, his toolbox, lawnmower and stacking blocks. he L-O-V-E-S books, and will read them all day long. he loves playing outside, playing in the fridge, and helping mommy clean the house. he sweeps the floor, vacuums and helps throw laundry in the washing machine. he's definitely a mama's boy, but this boy loves wrestling and playing with his daddy. he loves to blow kisses and give big snuggly hugs. he's currently taking one nap during the day, and sleeps 12-13 hours per night. can you say heavenly? liam loves looking out the window at birds, squirrels and dogs that pass by. he loves animals, and loves to make the different animal noises, especially a tiger growl. he played in the snow for the first time recently, and he fell in love! he even face-planted himself into the snow purposely for fun. he's the biggest goofball with the cutest toothy grin that comes across his face constantly. it's so much fun seeing him learn and grow, and begin to understand the world around him.
he has completely changed our world, and he makes me a better person each and every day.
love this kid.
Love all of the pictures! You guys are great!
