eight months.

hi, everyone!

eight months have passed by, and i seriously can't keep up! this kid is growing way too fast, but we are enjoying and relishing every single moment with our blue-eyed colby george.

so, what's new?

it's official! this kid is on the move. and when i say on the move, he is everywhere! he's getting into everything within reach, and he loves it! while he scoots around, he's giggling and laughing and is just purely loving life. colby has also learned to clap! i love seeing him reach his milestones, and growing so big and strong. he's definitely not a newborn anymore! on a more random note, we've discovered that colby absolutely despises public bathroom changing tables (you and me both, kiddo). the second we lay him on his back, he screams incessantly until we pick him up. he despises it. we've also discovered his love for dogs, and that he is a champion traveler just like his brother. he's officially been on his second set of roundtrip plane rides, and survived two twelve hour road trips to our cabin in the middle of nowhere and back. so grateful that our two boys love to travel as much as john and i do! lots of fun trips in our family's future.

besides crawling around and clapping, things have been pretty normal. eats, plays and sleeps. he is still fighting us on solid foods, but we are working on it. he's also waking up multiple times a night to feed, but we are working on that. we are hoping to resolve things quickly so i can stop being a mom-bie all the time. john and i are taking a trip to california in october, and my parents are coming to watch the boys. so, we gotta get him eating solids, weaned from me, and sleeping through the night. wish us luck!

when i was preggo with colbster, i had such a hard time thinking about what life was going to be like without it just being liam as my one and only child, but looking back at these past eight months, i cannot imagine our life without colby. all of the long nights, the feedings, the tears, the depression, the smiles, the explosive diapers, the tickles, the laughs, the joy, i'd do it all over 100%. this kid is an angel.

check out our colby's eighth month of life!

happy eight months, colby george!
love you so much, buddy.

seven months.

seriously, pinch me people. this kid is growing so fast, i can't keep up!

it's been a really fun and super hot month! we've explored out to grant's farm, splash pads, the swimming pool, and the botanical gardens. i was not built for the hot weather being born and raised in the PNW, so pretty much all of the other days are spent at home playing and trying not to melt. it's only june and it's creeped over 100 degrees? i'm bracing myself for a brutal summer. despite the heat, my three favorite boys and i have had some pretty fun adventures, and i can't wait for our upcoming trip to our family cabin in two weeks! i'm ready for some much needed downtime with my family, my hubby, and my favorite boys in a completely unplugged, secluded cabin in the middle of nowhere. bring. it. on.

so, what's new with the colbster?

colby is sitting up on his own, and loves scooting around in a circle on the floor. a toy will be a few inches in front of him and he will stretch his body out and reach with all of his might to get it. when he gets it, he squeals and starts kicking his chunky legs so fast. i'd say that crawling is in our close future (what?!). whenever he's not sitting or scooting around, he loves rolling around from back to tummy all over our floor. one of his favorite things to do is a superman pose! he lifts his arms and legs high off the ground and starts kicking and laughing. it's seriously the cutest thing on planet earth. he's still a nursing champ, and wakes up once a night to eat and goes back to sleep. colby refuses to eat solid foods. not just spits it out because of the taste, HE WON'T LET THE SPOON INTO HIS MOUTH. it's pretty hilarious. his current obsessions include sticking anything into his mouth (except for a spoon with food on it), clapping his feet together, saying his first word of "da-da!", playing with his big brother, dancing with his mama, snuggling with his daddy, and waking up right when mommy lays down for bed. we'll keep working on that last part.

to say that colby is the sweetest child in the universe would be a total understatement. he is perfectly content and never cries unless he is sleepy or hungry. he is still obsessed with his big brother, and is so much fun. if all of my babies could be like colby, i'd have a million of them. feeling so very blessed today.

enjoy this past month of colby's life in snapshots!

happy seven months, colby!

love you forever.

half a year.

six months ago, i was sitting in a hospital bed, hugely pregnant, and ready to bring our baby boy into the world! and now, we have a chunky, smiley, happy baby that is growing like a weed right before our eyes. time is seriously flyin'!

what's new with the colbster?

today was his six month appointment at the pediatrician! he weighs 15 pounds and 14 ounces (22%), is 27.5 inches in length (85%), and his head circumference is 45 cm (82%).

he's sleep trained! halle-freaking-lujah! we tried sleep training him at four months, and it did not work out at all. knowing that we were going to have my sister here for a week, and then travel to alabama for a five day trip, we decided to put it on hold until after. i'm so glad we did! the day after we got back, something totally clicked with colby. he's taking good naps and sleeping super great at night. before this, he was attached to me and would only fall asleep nursing waking up multiple times in the night. so, so thankful that that's over!

he's starting to push up, scooting around in a circle, and starting to sit up on his own. he's going to be crawling before we know it! he loves playing with toys, rolling all over the place, swinging at the park, and jumping in his exer-saucer. he's seriously getting so big!

at the age of six months, colby has already visited nine states (missouri, illinois, idaho, utah, alabama, tennessee, kansas, mississippi, and kentucky). i know that he's only six months old and won't remember his trips to these states at all, but to know that he's traveled to certain places will be fun for him to know when he's older. he's already almost a fifth of the way done, and he's not even a year old yet! pretty sweet.

this kid L-O-V-E-S his tongue. he sticks out his tongue constantly and it is the cutest thing ever. he's blowing bubbles with his mouth, and loves to smile! he hasn't cut any teeth yet, so i'll enjoy his gummy smile for as long as i can. his big blue eyes will melt your heart, and those ears...i could eat them! they're SO FLIPPING CUTE.

colby is still obsessed with liam, and laughs and smiles whenever he's around him. poor kid has been through a lot with liam jumping on him, kicking him, poking his eyes out...you get the jist. but with everything that liam has done to him, it's almost as if those things magnify his love for liam even more! these two already have such a special bond, and i cannot wait for that relationship to continue to blossom.

snapshots of colby's sixth month of life, enjoy!

happy six months, colby george!
love you to pieces.

five months old.

howdy, everyone! what a beautiful sunday it's been.

the sun is shining, john has the day off, and our colby george turns five months old. and both boys are taking a nap which is a total parenting win! woot woot!

so, what's been new with the colbster?

he's rolling over, has discovered his tongue, and really enjoys being outside in the sunshine. he rolled off the couch for the first time (total mom fail), rode in a baby swing for the first time, and loves grabbing his feet. he's definitely a snuggle bug, and is still a nursing champ. we gave him his first solid food of avocados, and he didn't even bat an eyelash or make a silly face. when we first fed liam avocados, his faces of disgust were hilarious, but colby wasn't phased at all. it just goes to show how completely different babies can be. he has really bad acid reflux and pukes a lot, and is now in size 2 diapers. we also celebrated his first easter! where has my little baby gone?

colby's personality has really started to shine through. he's sweet, goofy and loves to laugh and be our happy, smiley, blue-eyed boy. but boy is he stubborn! we tried to sleep train him a couple of weeks ago, and when i would lay him down for nap or bedtime, he would scream and scream and scream! we would go in to check on him and try to soothe him, but he would not go to sleep! the second we picked him up, he would instantly fall asleep. little stinker. the sleep training is still a work in progress, but for now, i'll just enjoy the snuggles. he loves playing with toys, sticking objects in his mouth, and chasing his brother while in my arms.

he is still totally obsessed with liam and i love watching them interact. they are going to be best friends when they grow up, and it makes my heart so warm and fuzzy watching them love each other. colby is an incredible addition to our family, and not a day goes by where i don't look at my boys and think how blessed and grateful i am to have them in our family. the days can be so long, and sometimes i don't know how i get through most days, but the years are short and they're going to be grown men before we know it.

enjoy some glimpses of colby's fifth month of life!

happy five months, colby! we love you so much.
